Although many children progress smoothly through established reading schemes to become competent readers, a significant number do experience areas of difficulty which hinder their development. A-MINUTE-A-DAY PHONICS offers support to these children in the form of photocopiable games, each of which focuses upon a specific letter or group of letters. The games may be used by a teacher or parent to provide intensive practice in problem areas. It is not uncommon for children to enjoy the security of a familiar reading scheme and to lack the confidence to venture outside it.
