| A-MINUTE-A-DAY There has long been concern amongst educators about the dangers of over-dependence by children upon aids such as calculators, which are often relied upon for even the most basic of calculations. The National Curriculum has sought to redress this problem by encouraging the learning by rote of multiplication tables and the solving of simple problems, which encourage mental dexterity. A-MINUTE-A-DAY MATHS fully supports this aim. It focuses upon basic skills, which, when assimilated, will free the child to extend his/her mathematical thinking, and provide a firm foundation upon which all future mathematical work may be based
